The Washington Post is the company's flagship newspaper, first published in 1877. The Post has operations in the Washington, DC metropolitan region and around the world, and news and business activities are headquartered in downtown Washington, DC. The company also publishes El Tiempo Latino, a leading Spanish-language weekly newspaper in the greater Washington area. The Washington Post Company also publishes Newsweek Magazine. Newsweek is a weekly news magazine published around the world and headquartered in New York City. Newsweek offers 12 editions, appearing in more than 190 countries, with a total circulation of about four million. Originally called News-Week, the magazine was founded in 1933 by Thomas J.C. Martyn. Other properties include broadcast television stations (listed below), local newspapers (listed below) and the cable television business Cable One, headquartered in Phoenix Arizona. Cable One operates cable television systems that provide digital, internet, and cable modem services to about 700,000 subscribers in midwestern, western, and southern states. The Washington Post Company also owns the educational and testing company Kaplan, Inc.. The family of Katharine Graham and the Berkshire Hathaway Company are significant shareholders in the company.
