Meredith Magazine Puts Video Ad in Select Copies

-- The Des Moines Register reported on August 21, 2010:

"Meredith Corp. has found a new way to use multimedia: a video inside a magazine.

Its August issue of
Successful Farming has an insert from Bayer Crop Science. When readers open the page, a video plays a commercial for Votivo, a pesticide that protects crops from nematodes.

The video, about the size of a cell phone screen, also plays four other commercials when readers push "play" buttons on the advertisement.

Successful Farming — which was first published in 1902, making it Meredith's oldest magazine — included the insert in 17,000 copies of the magazine, or about 4 percent of its subscribers, said Publisher Scott Mortimer. Meredith matched its database with Bayer's list of customers, and the advertisement also went to some farmers who have more than 1,000 acres.

The Des Moines media company said video-inserted advertisements have appeared in magazines only twice before. Americhip, which created the Successful Farming ad, also created similar advertisements for Pepsi and
CBS to run in Entertainment Weekly last fall."

Your fact-checkers are uninformed or lazy!! You claim that the first women went to college in 1936. My mother graduated with a BS from Iowa State University in 1929. Or do you not count a school unless it is one of the snooty?!?

Obviously no one is listening to these comments. If I receive anymore PAST DUE statements through USPS, I will file complaint. I took Ladies Home Journal for one year---found it to be less than what I wanted from a periodical--did not renew & now my postman monthly sees these PAST DUE envelopes. After seeing these comments, sadly I realize that this must be business as usual for Meredith. So glad to check out this site so I can beware of ALL Meridith Corporation affiliates. No wonder stock is down & losses are a sure thing. NOT good business practices, folks.

I have never ordered Parents magazine in my lifetime, nor do I have a desire to! Therefore, why would you be sending me bills? I have never recieved one issue and obviously this bill is in error. On this billing statement that I've recieved, there is not even a phone number to contact you, so it's making it very difficult to resolve this issue. It's sending up red flags! It makes me wonder how many others you have done this too and now from seeing other comments listed here on this site, I can see I am not the only one. Hmm!!
If this issue is not resolved and I continue to recieve bills from you, I will have no other choice than go to my State Attorney General's office so they can deal with your scam artists ways!!

Parent's Magazine toll free number #800-727-3682. Seems as if "cool savings.com" requires a magazine to be chosen to go to the next page when signing up for their services, so if you or someone you know selects the radio button you are signed up for the magazine.....a pain for you and the company to cancel.

I just received a bill for Parents magazine. I have never subscribed to this magazine and haven't received a copy in the mail. Ever! I tried to find a phone number on the "invoice" & on the Parents.com website as well as this site. The only one I found was not even an 800 # so now I have a long distance charge! (Thanks!). I will try the #'s the people in IA & MI listed. I do not have kids. I am not pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant, nor do I have some childcare operation going on. Obviously this is a mistake.
To Whomever is responsible for "customer service"
Please rectify this situation and follow up with a letter via USPS or email, since you already have those addresses. Also, Please post an 800 # on all your sites. Thank you.
