Fairchild Publications was founded in Chicago by Louis Fairchild in 1892. Today it is owned by Advance Publications, a large and privately held print media company.

The company produces fashion magazines such as Jane and W as well as trade newspapers. For many of its popular titles, the company also maintains companion web sites and holds conferences through its Fairchild Summits unit.

Fairchild publishes Women's Wear Daily (WWD), the fashion industry trade magazine often called "the fashion bible." Women's Wear Daily covers fashion business news and women's fashion trends for a readership of retailers, designers, manufacturers, marketers, financiers, media executives, socialites and trendmakers.
