Your fact-checkers are uninformed or lazy!! You claim that the first women went to college in 1936. My mother graduated with a BS from Iowa State University in 1929. Or do you not count a school unless it is one of the snooty?!?

Obviously no one is listening to these comments. If I receive anymore PAST DUE statements through USPS, I will file complaint. I took Ladies Home Journal for one year---found it to be less than what I wanted from a periodical--did not renew & now my postman monthly sees these PAST DUE envelopes. After seeing these comments, sadly I realize that this must be business as usual for Meredith. So glad to check out this site so I can beware of ALL Meridith Corporation affiliates. No wonder stock is down & losses are a sure thing. NOT good business practices, folks.

Des Moines, Iowa, July 29, 2009 -- Meredith Corporation, the leading media and marketing company serving American women, today reported a loss of $2.28 per share from continuing operations in fiscal 2009, including $4.31 per share resulting from a non-cash impairment charge and other special charges. Excluding these special charges, earnings per share from continuing operations were $2.03, in-line with previously stated expectations. Revenues in fiscal 2009 were $1.41 billion.

These results compare to fiscal 2008 reported earnings per share from continuing operations of $2.79, or $3.13 per share excluding special charges, on revenues of $1.55 billion.

I have never ordered Parents magazine in my lifetime, nor do I have a desire to! Therefore, why would you be sending me bills? I have never recieved one issue and obviously this bill is in error. On this billing statement that I've recieved, there is not even a phone number to contact you, so it's making it very difficult to resolve this issue. It's sending up red flags! It makes me wonder how many others you have done this too and now from seeing other comments listed here on this site, I can see I am not the only one. Hmm!!
If this issue is not resolved and I continue to recieve bills from you, I will have no other choice than go to my State Attorney General's office so they can deal with your scam artists ways!!

Parent's Magazine toll free number #800-727-3682. Seems as if "cool savings.com" requires a magazine to be chosen to go to the next page when signing up for their services, so if you or someone you know selects the radio button you are signed up for the magazine.....a pain for you and the company to cancel.

I just received a bill for Parents magazine. I have never subscribed to this magazine and haven't received a copy in the mail. Ever! I tried to find a phone number on the "invoice" & on the Parents.com website as well as this site. The only one I found was not even an 800 # so now I have a long distance charge! (Thanks!). I will try the #'s the people in IA & MI listed. I do not have kids. I am not pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant, nor do I have some childcare operation going on. Obviously this is a mistake.
To Whomever is responsible for "customer service"
Please rectify this situation and follow up with a letter via USPS or email, since you already have those addresses. Also, Please post an 800 # on all your sites. Thank you.

I found an "American Baby" magazine in my P. O. Box yesterday. The magazine has someone else's name, but my P. O. Box number. I was unable to locate a phone number to rectify the problem (either in the mag. or on the internet). I also will not waste my time or money trying to correct this error. I guess I will just start pitching the magazines in the trash. Not my problem but at least I tried.

I am frustrated that I can't call a number to talk to someone about my subscription (that they don't even list as one of their magazines)

after purchasing an issue of creative home magazine in the spring, I decided to subscribe. I recieved my first issue, and sent it payment about 4 or 5 weeks later. the payment cleared my bank in May 08. In July I received a notice from Meredith stating the payment had not been received, that is when I verified it had been cleared. I would like to talk to someone to let them know they were paid. About a week after I got the upaid notice, I received the same issue that came with my subscription in the mail again. (summer 08. Something is really messed up. Its ridiculous that they hae no real customer service for such a large corporation

I called 800-888-1181 and spoke with a woman named Kay, ID number 3615. She told me that my "subscription" was ordered through Coolstuff.com in May and that only my name and address were in their records - no payment methods or anything else was entered. I told her to flag my name and address and if ANY order came through their database for ANY magazine they were to note it as fraudulent, cancel the bill and note the magazine as undeliverable. She complied and also canceled my current "bill". This is the second magazine company that has attempted to billed me for a subscription I never ordered. The first was Reader's Digest. This is happening more and more, people. Don't be afraid to DEMAND they tell you how they got your order - even if they try to cut you off or tell you they don't know. Kay did this and when I pressed the topic of legal action she finally told me. It's your "account" and your right - by law - to know how they came to receive it!

i hate companies that do this and I will NEVER NEVER do business with them EVER!!!

I also received a fitness magazine and an invoice for a subscription that I NEVER ORDERED!!

I now have to spend HOURS of my time to contact someone at this company to tell them I NEVER ordered it. I've already spent several hours trying to locate a phone number since they do not include it on the invoice. Then once I located it online from several other people who have had to go throught the same thing ive had to I had to spend an hour on the phone and pay for a long distance call to navigate a series of difficult automatic voice commands for a complicated voice system set up to intentionally make it difficult to find a human being who could tell me why Ive had to spend the last few hours of my life dealing with this . I hate this company!!! When I finally got in touch with a human being they told me that they dont confirm these orders and that anyone can place orders for you. All they need is your address and phone number. So basically , I can look throught the phone book and make a subscription for anyone I damn well please. I urge all of you to locate these peoples home addresses and subscribe them to their own magazines

I also received a bill from this magazine that I had never heard of. There was no telephone number, no listing in the yellow pages, only their website (still with no telephone number). I looked on Rip Off and became quite concerned about their obvious scam.

I decided to dig a little deeper and did a reverse lookup using their address (in the White Pages). It listed a company called The Meredith Corporation that has a publishing company amongst other media companies. I called the number listed (515-284-3000) and asked for the publishing division for Fitness Magazine. The receptionist told me to call their toll free number 800-888-1181.

I called the number and after a relitively short wait, I was connected with Renee. She asked me for my account number and I told her I did not have an account with them, but I did have a bill. She pulled up my 'account' and said that it was an internet order placed on Feb 13. I told her it was fraudulent and that she needed to give me details so that I could report it to the authorities. She cut me off before I could finish, saying that the account was now cancelled and I should throw away the bill.

Fitness magazine company sent me a bill for $9.97 stating that I had ordered their magazine (Even though I have never heard of it). and that they were sending me to collections. I have never even received a magazine, let alone ordered one. And yet they are sending me threatening collection letters for $9.97.

After the first one came, I sent them a letter. I got no response, just another threatening bill.

They have no phone number on their bill, just an address, and you write and all they do is send another bill, no response to the letter.
Beware of these people.
Will have to notify the Attorney General on these people.

This is a MAJOR SCAM GOING ON!

I have just received a gift subscription to Better Homes and Gardens. While I appreciate the sentiment, this isn't a magazine that is useful to me.

Looking at the list of Meredith-owned publications, I would be DELIGHTED to regularly read Fitness Magazine.

Is there any way I can change my subscription? This is the 2nd year I've been given the Better Homes gift - guess I should've been candid about how I little I appreciate this (it goes directly from my mail box into the recycle bin, never entering the house).

Again - would LOVE to be a Fitness reader, if you can make this change.

Please advise. Thank you.
