I would like to take this opportunity to commend our maintenence man Dominique Norris for his bravery, he single handedly chased two vagrants that were shaked up in our high rise luxury apartments at 450 N. Arlington Ave, The Belvedere. One of these gentlemen pulled a knife on Dominique and having no other option he picked up a pool stick, well then the chase ensued, Dominique chased this one guy through the Silver Legacy while calling 911 for assistance and tackled him right in front of the McDonalds on Virginia Street, The police were right there at the time and arrested this guy and charged him with tresspassing, damaging property (Burn marks in the seats in our community room), and I believe the knife also cost this gentleman a charge. Then as he returned to the building the second of 4 total vagrants was down stairs, Dominique immediately started chasing this guy too, and ran through the Legacy (Casino) and chased this gentleman all the way to Lake Steet which is a long 3-4 city blocks and tackled this guy too. The police promptly arrested this guy as well. Anyway I feel a lot safer having Dominique here as do other residents and I guarantee that the word on the streets is do not sneak into the Belvedere Complex or you will be dealt with. Is there any kind of award I can recommend him for? This truly goes above and beyond the call of duty!!!!. Thanks very much. My cell number is 775-247-6085 and we are located at 450 N. Arlington Ave. Reno, Nevada, 89503......Thanks again

On August 7, 2009, Gray Television, Inc. announced results from operations for the first half of 2009.

Highlights of the six-month period ended June 30, 2009:

Total net revenue decreased $23.3 million, or 16%, to $126.4 million due primarily to decreased local, national, political and internet advertising revenue and decreased production and other revenue. These decreases were partially offset by increased retransmission consent revenue in the current period. Retransmission consent revenue reflects the more profitable terms of our recently renewed contracts. Local and national advertising revenue decreased due to reduced spending by advertisers in the current economic recession. Historically, our industry's largest advertiser category has been the automotive industry. The current recession has significantly reduced the automotive industry's advertising expenditures. Our automotive advertising revenue decreased approximately 45% compared to the prior year. The negative effects of the recession were partially offset by increased advertising during the 2009 Super Bowl. Net advertising revenue associated with the broadcast of the 2009 Super Bowl on our ten NBC affiliated stations approximated $750,000 which is an increase from the approximate $130,000 of Super Bowl revenue earned in 2008 on our then six Fox affiliated channels. Internet advertising revenue decreased due to the same factors that affected our local and national advertising revenue but to a lesser extent. Political advertising revenue decreased due to reduced advertising from political candidates during the "off year" of the two-year political advertising cycle.

Local advertising revenue decreased $12.7 million, or 13%, to $82.6 million.

National advertising revenue decreased $9.6 million, or 27%, to $25.2 million.

Internet advertising revenue decreased $0.4 million, or 7%, to $5.3 million.

Political advertising revenue decreased $6.1 million, or 76%, to $2.0 million.

Retransmission consent revenue increased $6.2 million, or 425%, to $7.6 million.

Production and other revenue decreased $0.7 million, or 17%, to $3.5 million.

I warn against working for this company. They have very few ethics and treat their employees like crud.

I am a former United Methodist minister and have never felt the urge to write the networks such as NBC until now. There is a obvious degree of unfairness in news reporting and it all leans toward bashing the Republicans while praising the Democrats. Well since I am retired and don’t have to answer to a Bishop and his Cabinet I am going to start preaching what I believe. That is looking at the best qualified candidates and not trying to compare apples to oranges.
The best way we at the public level can get the TV news media’s attention is to boycott the advertisers on these networks and let them know why we are not buying their products. The time to start is today. When you see a product on the major networks or local TV stations who display a one-sided view of the news just don’t buy that product!
Let the advertiser know that you are boycotting them as well as why and that you will encourage others to do so as well.
As a old TV news reporter/news director I can assure you it will get their attention.
Bro. Tom
PS
Feel free to share this with everyone on your email list. I did…all three hundred plus of you!

The firing of News Director Glen Mabie at WEAU-TV in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for refusing to 'sell' WEAU's news division ethics to a local hospital in a back-room deal is an outrage.
As someone who only stumbled across this story on a journalists' website, I find it incredulous that the Station Manager who tried to force this down the throats of his news staff is still employed at the station, while Mr. Mabie is now unemployed.
Gray Television Group, Inc. will have absolutely no integrity in the eyes of the public until it REVERSES these two current employment situations.

Gray's drug testing policies are the most invasive to employees at of all of the media owners in the United States. Some employees are tested five or six times per year!

Terribly Disappointed in Gray   Augusta, Georgia

Gray does have serious race and gender discrimination issues. They knowingly cover up issues and keep the individuals who commit the acts employed. WRDW should be off the air for they're discriminating acts.

you local CBS affiliate WTVY is the worst station on the air in our local area. It constantly drops out portions of progams during Primetime . All we get to see is the "bouncing signal strength meter " . No other station in our area has this kind of problem. The only time I've seen this same lack of proffesionalism is when Wade Thompaston worked at Channel 7 in Panama City. Could there be a connection?
