You need to take a look at some of your programing.I don't want (free) trash (movie channels) in my home. I didn't ask for it, nor did I buy and pay for having to lock channels and create passwords and to become a spy to watch over what, when and who can view or not to view certain channels. While you place free previewing of movie channels, I've had tremendeous issues over children in my home viewing (free) pornography.
I was with Direct tv for years and they would not comply with my many requests to remove these channels. Infact their comments time after time was "It's free". " You don't have to watch it."
Please!!!!!! I spoke with a Dish rep. this a.m. and she asked for me to lock these channels. I don't want to have to explain to my husband that I have the password or why I've locked these channels. I didn't pay to have to spy on my family, nor to protect children from seeing the filth that I did not pay to watch.
Please!!!!!!!
I have a large circle of friends who feel this same way.
If you want to do something else for your programing, change the format on HGTV back to HGTV. I agree with the hundreds of people who are disgusted with HGTV becoming the REAL ESTATE channel. You have an intelligent viewing audience and we thought we were paying for the shows that we used to watch that had to do with decorating, crafts, gardening by the yard, design on a dime, etc.
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LISTEN TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will hope for a positive response.

Scripps Renews Affiliation Agreement With ABC

November 17, 2010 -- The E.W. Scripps Company has entered into an agreement with the ABC television network to extend the affiliation of six Scripps stations with ABC through January 31, 2015.

The stations involved are WXYZ (Detroit, the country's 11th-largest market), KNXV (Phoenix, market rank #12), WFTS (Tampa, market rank #14), WEWS (Cleveland, market rank #18), WMAR (Baltimore, market rank #27), and WCPO (Cincinnati, market rank #33). The ABC stations in the Scripps television division cover approximately 8 percent of U.S. households.

The previous long-term affiliation agreement ended on January 31, 2010. The stations had continued operating as ABC affiliates through short-term extensions since that date.

"I'm pleased that we're able to continue the productive relationship we've had with ABC for many more years," said Brian Lawlor, senior vice president of the Scripps television station group. "This new agreement reflects our shared belief in the power of a high-quality national programming provider combined with local affiliates that have trusted news brands and strong influence in their communities."

The new agreement includes a license fee paid by Scripps to ABC for the network's programming. Since the expiration of the affiliation agreement on January 31, the company has been accruing network programming expenses at a rate that is consistent with the new agreement.

On August 10, 2009, The E.W. Scripps Company reported second-quarter operating results for its television, newspaper, and licensing and syndication businesses. The operations that formerly comprised the company's Scripps Networks and interactive media divisions, which were spun off into a separate publicly traded company (now Scripps Networks Interactive Inc.) on July 1, 2008, are reported in previous periods as discontinued operations.

Consolidated revenues were $194 million, a 23 percent decrease from $251 million in the second quarter of 2008. Net income from continuing operations, was $2.3 million, or 4 cents per share, compared with a net loss from continuing operations of $608 million, or $11.20 per share, in the 2008 quarter. Results in the year-ago quarter were reduced by a non-cash, after-tax charge of 1) $525 million to reduce the carrying value of goodwill in the company's newspaper businesses, and 2) $58 million to reduce the carrying value of investments in newspaper partnerships in Colorado.

The company maintained its solid balance sheet during the quarter. On June 30, 2009, the company's net debt was $31.2 million, reflecting long-term debt of $73.1 million and cash and short-term investments of $41.9 million.

"Thanks to disciplined operating decisions and modest debt, Scripps has been able to protect its financial health and look ahead with optimism despite an economic crisis that has throttled the flow of marketing dollars across this country," said Rich Boehne, president and chief executive officer. "In the near term, we are seeing some slight improvement in the flow of advertising in our markets, particularly at the television stations, which have increased their revenue projections -- albeit very modestly -- during each of the past seven weeks.

"We remain most focused during this period of rapid media transformation on the longer-term opportunities to increase our shares of local audiences and advertising revenues through a dedication to high-quality content and outstanding public service. Thanks to our stable financial position, we've been able to shift resources during this period to those areas that have the best long-term return -- news and information content and the development of new revenue streams."

February 19, 2009: The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP) today reported fourth-quarter operating results for its television, newspaper, and licensing and syndication businesses. The quarterly results reflect continued weakness in advertising sales at the company's newspapers and television stations. The company's revenue decreased 6.2 percent to $265 million, compared with $282 million in the fourth quarter of 2007.

The company reported a loss from continuing operations before income taxes and minority interests of $19.4 million, compared with income before income taxes and minority interests of $44.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2007.

"It became apparent toward the end of the year there's nowhere to hide from the national economic crisis," said Rich Boehne, president and CEO of Scripps.

I have been watching HGTV for 10 years and it's all because of Paul James The Gardener Guy. You need to add him back the the Saturday morning rotation. He has inspired me to try new things in my garden. I watched him 1st thing on Saturday and then went to the nursery to buy it what ever it was he was talking about that morning. I have never met some one that makes gardening fun. You need to older hosts (over 40) on because they are the ones with the knowledge and experience and passion. I love all his guests he has on also. Please keep Paul around for a long time and please add some more "G" in HGTV. Thank you, Kim

Twice, your station WEWS has mentioned that there were eight (8) Presidents of these United States from Ohio. Correct me if I'm wrong, there were only seven (7) Presidents that hailed from this state! Some people think that President Cleveland was from Ohio. Wrong! He came from the state of New York. Thank you.

2-9-08Re: Request Coverage,Att. Kenneth Lowe
I, Jesha Miller have a Petition to Impeach President Bush on Capital Hill awaiting either Congressman Brad Ellsworth or Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to take to the Floor, at which time I, Jesha Miller will initiate the impeachment procedure. The charges will be aiding & abetting a criminal from Justice & the Constitution warrants his impeachment under Article II, section 3 of the Constitution. I have executed my Constitutional Right # 925 under the 1st Amendment to recieve coverage & Mizell Stewart refuses to write an Article on this. There is a Federal Crime involved which is against the peace & dignity of the U.S. & is at war with Democracy pursuant to Title 18, section 243. I will now file suit against him & the company if I'm not contacted to do an article on this within 2 days in Federal Court for media bias & refusing your responsibility to inform the public of the federal crime & the denial of the guaranteed rights under the Bill of Rights.

You lack sufficient gardening shows. When I first started watching the Home and Gardening Network there were many wonderful gardening shows. Now there are just a few. And I can't believe that the only time I can watch Paul James the Gardener Guy is early Sunday morning. Other favorites are no longer available at anytime.
